The Future of Healthcare

Doximple is a revolutionary platform that matches healthcare consumers and small businesses with cash-based providers.  Doximple enables consumers to reduce out-of-pocket expenses by shopping for cash-based services. Consumers can search and filter through a spectrum of options, and even assess provider quality before booking an appointment. The platform allows providers to market their services directly to consumers and engage with them in public or private.

I got the chance to speak with Grant Moller, CEO of Doximple, and Pradeep Sundar, Marketing and Business Development, about the great things they are doing and how they are changing the healthcare world.

What are the challenges/process involved with getting providers?

“We haven’t launched yet but have been receiving positive responses from people we talked to. One of the biggest challenges is from people who have opted out of insurance and are not really part of a system, they are independent, which is a constant marketing challenge for them. That’s their challenge and that’s what we’re seeking to help them with, which is not necessarily a challenge for providing people that are interested. Those who haven’t opted out of insurance believe they are restricted from posting cash prices. Connecting them with other providers that are posting their prices that are still in insurance market. It becomes tricky.”

You mentioned your app contains ratings. Where do the ratings come from? Is it like yelp?

“We do want to have it yelp-based at least in the beginning. There are some good technology partners out there that are sourcing good provider rating data both on outcome and on consumer metrics side. There are a couple vendors that we stay in contact with, we want to source data and bring that in. We also want to be able to integrate with others (unlike yelp we want to co mingle)."

What would you say your differentiator is?

“We allow both providers and payers (3rd party brokers) to create their own network and grow their networks at scale. We’re not just a marketplace that has pricing, we have a scaleable multi-network  solution that allows on permission for different groups to build their own network. They can do that outside of the insurance system which is really where our niche is there. It creates a great user experience around that. Gives free marketeers to be able to have a system to grow that collaborative work together.”

What’s the level of growth you’d be satisfied seeing in the next year?

“We are just starting out so we would like to see a target of 10,000 providers by the end of 2016. A reach of employer groups with over 1 million members and technology partners that give us access to another 5 million.”

Currently in private alpha being tested by providers on an invite-only basis, Doximple is gearing up for its public beta launch in early December and simultaneously working on raising capital. The initial feedback they have received from the healthcare community- consumers, providers and payers - has been incredibly positive.
