Thank You! Recapping Our Best Event Yet
Last Thursday, we held our fourth annual New York TechDay 2015 at Pier 92 in Manhattan. It was our third year in a row at the humongous river-front venue. We have maxed out the space each time- but this year, the energy was certainly at an all time high (as was attendance at the show).
The week started off with an outstanding exhibitor pre-party at Avenue hosted by Wilson Sonsini, where our exhibitors could connect and get to know their neighbors before the show. The following evening, Nasdaq hosted a special cocktail reception at their breathtaking MarketSite in Times Square for selected startups. Later that evening they held a brief award ceremony where startups like Koho (Fintech), Button (Developer Engagement), Fusar (Hardware), Cashtivity (EdTech) and Sols (Heath & Fitness) were honored. Of course, every startup that participated in TechDay is a winner, and we’re so proud that all of our 450+ companies choose to spend their day with us on Thursday.
Perhaps it was the fact that funding levels have risen substantially year over year for startups in the NYC community. Or maybe there are just more people working in or transitioning into the tech space. But we genuinely felt that the quality of startups growing with our show certainly had their impact felt on the show floor. EdTech really shined this year, with more startups in such vertical, than we’ve ever had at any of our shows. The local universities dug in more than they ever have, and we look forward to working with them throughout the year.
During TechDay on Thursday, we had an unexpected but extraordinarily appreciated visit from members of the NY City Council, who brought an official Proclamation with them claiming that April 23rd is New York Tech Day in honor of our show!
Thursday night, hundreds of exhausted but inspired folks from our community danced the night away at Host Committee’s after party at PH-D!
And the cherry on top for the week is that Nasdaq invited us back, this time to ring the Nasdaq Closing Bell! What made that moment even more special is that we had the opportunity to be with some of our friends from the startup community beside us!
The proclamation, the bell ringing, were just the gift wrapping for us. What we couldn’t be more proud of was watching the thousands of people at our show smiling, collaborating, learning, and delighting in community. There were countless connections made. We have heard great things about great candidates connecting with potential employers. To our incredible sponsors, we could not be more grateful- thank you for supporting the startup ecosystem here in NYC. You make this event possible, and you should also be proud of your participation.
From all of us at TechDay, Thank You for making this event such a success, our best yet. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you and would love any feedback. Please email us at contact@TechDayHQ.com with anything at all.
