Happiness, Health, Money
Happiness, Health, and Money. These are all things we want, and deserve to have, but are not always the easiest to get. But, lucky for you, I have three things that will help you get them all. Just three things. Are you ready? The three things are…two parts Hydrogen and one part Oxygen. Some people call it water. I am about to share with you how to lead happier, healthier, and richer lives by doing one thing. Drinking more water!
Factoid: Medically speaking, most doctors agree that healthy humans can go up to eight weeks without food as long as they have…. water. In 1981, members of the Irish Republican Army imprisoned in England went on a hunger strike to protest their incarceration; one man survived for 73 days without food. 73 days. Fascinating! Gandhi fasted for 21 days while in his 70s. Many people lost in the wild have also survived for long periods of time without eating.
Bottom line, food is important but you can live for a long time without it. Yes it’s amazing! Since your body stores energy in the form of fat you can utilize it for a long time. After the fat runs out, your body literally begins to eat itself. That is, it breaks down protein, your muscles, to burn as energy. And this coupled with a drastic reduction in metabolism (your body begins to run in “power saving mode”) leads to the capability of living an incredible amount of time without food.
Depending on your environment you can only live a few days without water – at most a week. (I find these facts interesting to understand how vital water is to survival. For the record, I do suggest you eat food.)
Since our bodies are constantly losing water, the balance of water in your body must be kept very precise. While we can store extra energy in the form of fat, your body does not have much extra water storage, which is why drinking a glass of H20 in addition to a coffee once a day is not anywhere near enough to keep the body replenished. We lose water when we sweat, go to the bathroom — even when we exhale. At least 60% of the adult body is made of water and every living cell in the body needs water to keep functioning. Water acts as a lubricant for our joints, regulates our body temperature through sweating and respiration, provides a medium for important chemical reactions and is vital for flushing out waste.
You can read 100 self-help books, or you can drink more water!
Let’s talk about your Physical Health: Drinking enough water helps maintain energy and relieves fatigue – since your brain is mostly water, about 75% by weight, drinking water helps you think and concentrate better. As an added bonus, you will boost your energy levels!
Let’s talk about Mental Health: Drinking more water can make you become less cranky and it cures headaches, which are commonly caused by dehydration. If you have a headache “this big”… drink more water! Research says dehydration can affect your mood and make you grumpy and confused. So, in order to think more clearly and be happier …drink more water!
Let’s talk about Financial Health: $11.7 billion per year is spent on soft drinks, with the average American said to drink 53 gallons of soft drinks per year, which makes one of every four beverages consumed in the United States a soft drink!
Save money by not buying soft drinks, and drink more water!
Here are tips to help you drink more water.
-
Always carry a water bottle wherever you go as a reminder to keep drinking.
-
Learn how much water is right for your body and weight, then set goals with friends and try to motivate each other to drink the right amount of water daily.
-
Drink a glass of cold water first thing in the morning, and before each meal.
Two elements when combined will make you happier, healthier, and wealthier. Two parts Hydrogen and one part Oxygen. Some people call it water, I call it awesome. Don’t do me a favor, do yourself a favor.
Drink More Water. Cheers.
