Did Someone Say Alcohol Delivery?

Minibar is the leading marketplace for on-demand delivery of wine, beer, liquor, mixers and more. Minibar provides users with a better way to shop; connecting them with local liquor stores to offer the best selection of products and a personalized experience. Founded in NYC in 2014 by Lara Crystal and Lindsey Andrews, Minibar has expanded to more than 20 cities in the US including New Jersey, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, Miami, LA, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix, Minneapolis Washington DC, and other cities across the U.S.Lara and Lindsey took some time to answer our questions about Minibar and how they come up with the idea. The Minibar team will be at TechDay this year so stop by their booth to check it out!1. Where did the idea for Minibar Delivery come from?We would meet every Tuesday night (aka: Takeout Tuesday) to discuss a variety of business ideas. When another friend from business school suggested alcohol delivery, we realized that would improve takeout Tuesday, and our lives, generally. When we looked at the space we realized how much opportunity there was to bring this industry online – all of this eventually evolved into Minibar — on-demand alcohol delivery.2. What makes you guys different from similar companies? At Minibar we value providing a quality experience above all else. For example, we are the only provider that offers a subscription service to help make it easier for consumers and businesses to stock their bar from the touch of a button. What’s more, we've invested in dedicated customer service, unparalleled design and personalized product curation to establish an all around superior on-demand alcohol platform.3. What has been your best marketing tool?Word of mouth has always been the best for us - a happy consumer is worth a thousand display ads. The great thing about our business is that drinking tends to be a social activity so people tend to share good experiences - gifts are huge for us; who doesn’t love a bottle of wine?4. Where do you see Minibar Delivery in 4 years? Our goal is to provide the best way to shop for wine, beer and liquor and we hope to be doing that in the US & beyond - less than 2% of alcohol sales is done online - so we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us! We’ll be looking to add new features that complement our user experience.5. What was the biggest challenge the company has ever faced and how did you overcome it?Our biggest challenge is meeting the growing demand for Minibar across the country. With an excited waitlist of consumers in cities throughout the U.S., we’re looking forward to growing our footprint and scaling our team quickly and efficiently.
