Dan Madden, Mid-Atlantic Regional Director at the Department of Defense’s National Security Innovation Network, where he helps the DoD access emergent tech from academia and startups. He is also a visiting scholar at Columbia University Entrepreneurship and an adjunct associate professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Dan previously worked at the RAND Corporation, where he conducted capability need and modernization portfolio assessments for the Department of Defense. 10 of these peer-reviewed reports have been publicly released, on topics ranging from special operations, acquisition, strategy, and North Korea. Dan has also served as a special assistant to an Under Secretary of Defense, as a military legislative assistant to a House Armed Services Committee subcommittee chair, and an officer in the United States Marine Corps.
