Leveling the Playing Field
Chuck is a Founding Partner at Republic, a leading equity crowdfunding portal, and co-producer of the international television series Meet the Drapers. He is also GP of micro VC fund RainmakeMe and sits on the board of three startups: CrowdSmart.io, PantyProp, and RidersShare. Chuck has an MBA from the Fordham Gabelli School of Business and a BS from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
In 2016, the SEC enacted JOBS Act regulations, which finally allowed regular people without millions of dollars in the bank to become angel investors. These regulations also allow founders to raise capital while giving their users or customers the chance to own a piece of the startups they believe in. Chuck will give an overview on how these new laws (and the platforms that leverage them) are a way for retail investors to access venture capital as an asset class and for founders to grow their companies.
