Tiasia O'Brien is the Founder and Head of Strategy of Seam Social Labs, a mission-driven company dedicated to empowering disinvested communities. As a social entrepreneur, Tiasia has a decade of experience in leading strategic communications and public-private initiatives. Tiasia has an Advanced Diploma in Data Analytics from NYU and is an M.A. candidate at The New School, researching civic and community innovations to resolve social inequalities.
Data show that diverse teams increase (what kind) outcomes by tri-fold, yet most tech startups still struggle to recruit diverse candidates. At Seam Social Labs, our team is a mix of women, people of color, immigrants, and people along the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Tiasia will focus on learning how to recruit, interview, and hire ethnically and academically diverse teams--all while keeping an eye on the bottom line.
