Doug Schmidt is the Co-founder and CEO of Metaprise, an open network platform that connects accelerator and incubator-sponsored private companies with global networks of investors and corporate partners. Doug is also an active mentor for a number of global accelerators including NUMA, BelCham, and Unreasonable Group, an advisor for a number of growth-stage startups including SerialBox Publishing, and PayCargo, and an advisor at venture capital firms. Before becoming an entrepreneur and business owner, Doug worked as Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer for nearly 30 years for some of the world's largest public companies including CNET Networks, CBS Interactive, Pearson PLC, and Dentsu.
In this session, Doug will discuss some of the challenges that come with starting a business with co-founders. Co-founder relationships can be complex to navigate and will test the strength of one’s leadership, commitment to the business, and personal relationships. Doug will talk about how to set up a strong "personal contract" amongst co-founders to build a solid foundation to aid in making sound company decisions while also preserving and strengthening relationships co-founders already have.
