CUPS
Prepaid coffee plans for NYC's best cafes
Company Overview

CUPS is a mobile app that connects coffee drinkers with independent cafes by offering unique prepaid plans that make it fun, simple and rewarding to visit and discover independent establishments.
We make it easier for thirsty New Yorkers to find small, cool cafes, and vice versa. Our members enjoy having access to boutique coffee shops, and - of course - the extra money in their pockets. And our coffee shops are buzzed to have increased customer loyalty and feel like they're better able to compete with bigger chains.
We’re essentially creating a network of independent coffee shops that’s able to compete with Starbucks and other big chains by offering a one of a kind, convenient and easy platform to visit and discover independent establishments.

CUPS aims to revolutionize and disrupt with the current status quo in the US coffee market.
The US coffee shop market is dominated by two companies, Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts. Together, they have over 18,000 locations and their revenues account for roughly half of this 32 billion dollar market.
In the past few years, one of the most significant growing engines in the market have been mobile loyalty apps which greatly contribute in customer retention and engagement efforts. The Starbucks app, for example, currently has 16% of Starbucks’ US revenue growing through it. That’s 2 billion dollars. A number that essentially makes it the world’s most successful mobile wallet.
Independent coffee shops, however, although having over 20,000 locations between them, are unable to compete with the big chains’ loyalty apps. App development costs are out of their reach but more importantly, since they’re not united, they’ll never be able to offer the same level of comfort and convenience as the Starbucks app can, for example, with its 12,000 locations.
This is where CUPS comes in. CUPS unites independent coffee shops and helps them compete with the big chains by offering a one of a kind coffee loyalty program.
